Born from nature, built for better healthcare
We founded "The Lipocoat Group" with a clear mission: to solve complex medical challenges without using harmful substances. In less than ten years, The Lipocoat Group has grown to develop, manufacture, and sell multiple medical coating solutions worldwide.
Our coating platforms transform surfaces to be hydrophilic, lubricious, and naturally anti-fouling, reducing bacterial and protein buildup without antibiotics or leachable agents. Additionally, we offer best-in-class, angle-independent ultrasound visibility for metallic, polymeric, and ceramic medical devices. This provides clinicians with real-time positional confidence during placement and supports advanced automated placement procedures.
We support partners from early feasibility through application development, testing, tech transfer, regulatory approval, and scale-up. Our solutions are future-proof and free of APIs, silicone, PFAS, and other harmful chemicals.

LipoCoat was founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the University of Twente. In under ten years we have grown into a company that develops, manufactures and sells multiple coating platforms, LipoCoat® and Sono-Coat®, to medical device manufacturers worldwide.
Yes. In 2026 we expanded our facility in Enschede, the Netherlands, to 1,000 m², combining an internal R&D center, a cleanroom, a laboratory and production under one roof. This gives us full control over formulation, testing and manufacturing, and shorter lead times for our partners.
Yes, LipoCoat is ISO 13485:2016 certified. Our coatings are tested according to ISO 10993-1 and meet EU MDR requirements, so the regulatory approval process for your device is simpler and the documentation you need is already in place.
Yes. Alongside our coating platforms, we offer analytical R&D services to quantify biomaterials, medical devices and coatings using ASTM- and ISO-aligned standards. This includes surface measurements, biocompatibility testing, microbial evaluation and friction testing, giving you precise, traceable data for regulatory submissions and quality assurance.
Yes. Every application has different requirements for thickness, wettability or lubricity. Thanks to our platform technology, we can tailor the formulation to your exact specifications without changing the device's underlying mechanical properties or dimensions.
